![]() I think there's a real sense of genuine personality to the music. A careful amount of synthesizer is thrown in for good measure. In another scene, roaring horns sound and drums snap as Goku transforms into a Super Saiyan. In one scene, a simple piece with tingle bells added creates the effect of focusing on Gohan. It comes off as this very spirited score, one that captures the atmosphere of not just the setting but the pace and mood of a scene. The overall effect seems like part parade music, part toddler tunes, and part building orchestral. ![]() Sometimes it's cute (but never cutesy), other times it's triumphant, and sometimes it's grandious. I've been thinking about how to best describe the Kikuchi sound in the Dragon Ball franchise. Taking cues from old films, Kikuchi is a little Wang Fu-ling and a little Bernard Hermann. He is best known, however, for scoring the anime adaptation of Toriyama's most popular work, Dragon Ball. ![]() Cutting his teeth on tokusatsu programs, Kikuchi got work scoring the anime adaption of the popular Akira Toriyama manga Dr. While not the quality of say, Yoko Kanno's contributions, or the emotional power of Hiroshi Miyagawa's work, Kikuchi has been in the business of incidental music (that is to say, background music) for decades. The pirate voice joke was written back when they didn't think of doing the movies and when they didn't think they'd get past Freeza.Few people talk about Shunsuke Kikuchi. I was honestly expecting them to ditch the pirate thing like how the redid Cooler once they got to his movie despite showing a clip earlier where he was played by Kaiser. Both of which I do not think would have supported a movie with little to nothing else going on. They either wanted to make TFS make a bunch of Bojack jokes or a bunch of Pirate jokes. ![]() I'm really thinking fans were hyping Bojack up way too much. At best all I could see them do would be a parody of the ending credits song as the credit song of the movie. Yeah, Bojack wouldn't have been around as much as 16, but it would have been a lot of build up for a joke that relies on the viewer being a fan of this completely unrelated series on Netflix and honestly would have seemed a little forced for them. They regret making the fake Namekians those aliens from ATHF and that was only one episode. It's kind of bad comedy and the joke would wear thin and not age well. This fall under the same aspect of why didn't they give 16 an Arnold impression. That being the main focus of a joke for a video that would be at least twenty minutes long is defiantly not their style anymore. ![]()
